Due to the complexity, number and importance of the microscopes available, the Advanced Imaging unit runs regularly scheduled quality control checks on all mission critical microscopes. We will be making these regularly available on this page.

We measure:

- The resolution of each objective by measuring the apparent size (FWHM - Full Width Half Maximum size) of sub-diffraction single color microspheres of 0.17µm.
- The Point Spread Function (PSF) of the same microspheres is used to control for aberrations in the image.
- Colocalization quality of each objective and filter combination using multiply labeled 0.5µm microspheres (still gathering data!).
- Power output of the lamp/laser at the objective.
