Frog Facility

The Xenopus Facility has a 9 tank capacity of individual circulating fresh water system and associated preparation area able to house up to 90 Xenopus laevis, available to research at the Institute.

These animals are easy to maintain and are kept under ideal conditions for production of oocytes and eggs. These frogs have very large oocytes and eggs so microinjections, extracts and developmental analysis are all quite easy technical procedures to perform.

The Facility is maintained at 19°C. All the tanks are isolated from one another, keeping the colony free from potential cross contamination.

Only specially trained people are authorized to take care of the animals.
